7 Day Iceland and the Northern Lights
To the Vikings, they were fires in the sky or the gowns of dancing angels. To scientists, they’re the reaction of charged particles colliding with solar winds in Earth’s upper atmosphere. To all who see them, they are simply fascinating! The Northern Lights are a rippling, cosmic curtain of ethereal soft colors that ignite the subarctic sky.

Your journey starts with a restorative, post-flight dip in the mineral-rich waters of the Blue Lagoon. Based in Reykjavik for the first 2 nights, get to know this creative capital city and set out on your first attempt to see the Northern Lights dance across the night sky. Next you’ll head up to Akureyri, Iceland’s “second city” and the gateway to the north, where you’ll get embark on a guided nighttime tour in hopes of glimpsing the Northern Lights. Explore Mývatn, a volcanic lake which, along with Goðafoss waterfall makes up the Diamond Circle. After a flight back to Reykjavik you’ll end your adventure with a two-night stay in Husafell, far from the city lights and where the Northern Lights are often visible from the comfort of your countryside accommodation.

Please note: This trip is available from mid-September to mid-April.
